I'm a mixed media visual artist with a passion for drawing the figure. The complexities of the human form pose a special problem for the artist who doesn't rely on formulas for drawing the figure. There are no quick and easy methods for drawing, no "drawing for dummies" approach that can lead to a real understanding the the human form. There are no shortcuts.
I have no interest in making my work look like a photograph. Photos speak their own language. I would rather my work looks raw, made by hand and without a slick gloss.
Often I'll make a non-objective, somewhat monochromatic monotype, the focus of which is texture and composition. This gives me something to consider and respond to. Honestly, I sometimes don't have any idea about what a work could become. My favorite works are those that surprise me. This work arose out of that idea.
