I'm a mixed media visual artist with a passion for drawing the figure. The complexities of the human form pose a special problem for the artist who doesn't rely on formulas for drawing the figure. There are no quick and easy methods for drawing, no "drawing for dummies" approach that can lead to a real understanding the the human form. There are no shortcuts.
I have no interest in making my work look like a photograph. Photos speak their own language. I would rather my work looks raw, made by hand and without a slick gloss.
The Santa Maria Novella church in Florence, Italy, has a pile of human bones behind glass with the inscription, ""I was once what you are, and what I am you will become". That quote inspired this work.
