I'm a mixed media visual artist with a passion for drawing the figure. The complexities of the human form pose a special problem for the artist who doesn't rely on formulas for drawing the figure. There are no quick and easy methods for drawing, no "drawing for dummies" approach that can lead to a real understanding the the human form. There are no shortcuts.
I have no interest in making my work look like a photograph. Photos speak their own language. I would rather my work looks raw, made by hand and without a slick gloss.

I taught anatomical drawing for 21 years at the University of Missouri. During this time, I found my passion for drawing the human figure.This tree reminds me of the knobby knees, wrinkled elbows, sharp ankles, etc. that are part of the human body.
